SHOPPING FOR CAMPING
Mom and I went shopping for camping food and such.

SEEING OLD FRIENDS...
Then I headed south to Roseburg, OR to meet up with my best friend growing up. Brad. My Mom babysat/took care of him from when he was about 6 months, through 5th or 6th grade. Been at least 20 years since we saw each other last. Sorta kept up through Facebook, but that ain't the same thing.
Ate at Brix Grill and met his new wife, April (hope i remembered that right... sorry, no pics - Heather would be berating me for forgetting to get a pic of them!)
I had the salmon, one of Heather's all-time favorites... Delicious!
Told stories of the good ol' days, favorite was when we were about 10 yo we got a hold of a tape recorder and took commercials of the day and altered them (Coke Gives Zits; Pringles Candy Bars (not potato chips); and even a take off of KMTR 16 News (which was fairly new to the area and they had a jingle!). We also sang songs of the day: "I've been Waiting (for a Girl Like You)... Just fun!
After dinner we headed back to their place (they bought their place in the time between Stardate 94850.05 and 94932.13 (figure it out by going here: http://www.stoacademy.com/tools/stardate.php). That is the same time period Heather and I got the Sanctuary!)... April (the wife, not the 4th month of the Gregorian Calendar) went grocery shopping while Brad and I had a shot and a beer chaser. I have to say, Absolut Lime is smooooth.
We sat outside on their awesome deck (yes, I compared it to Heather's deck - his came in a close second, but his plant watering system beat mine hands down!). We sat and sipped our beer and talked about life after wife. He shared some insights abut getting to know yourself as yourself since now you are on your own and to not move too quickly into anything. Know who you are and know what you want out of life and if a new partner to share that life with seems to be near, make sure you know your needs and do not allow anyone to change themselves just for you if they would not change for themselves, and don't change just for that person because what you hope will be a life-partner might just turn out to be a companion/roommate. Well, while that feels too soon for me to even begin thinking about, it did make me think I do need to get to know me. I've known who I was with Heather, and it sometimes makes me emotional because it was Heather and Scott / Scott and Heather. Now I need to get to know me which seems a bit scary.
And then we saw either Odocoileus hemionus columbianus or Odocoileus virginianus. (Do some research here: https://www.google.com).
Good Times with Brad... Love you Brother. See you again hopefully long before the next 20 years.
